Why? Yes why? Why is it important to be seen in a Fashion Event? There are two ways to think, the first one is if  “do you want to be known?” (And by “known” I am not thinking about known like Garance Doree is …) or “Do you just want to be someone behind the scene?”
On the first wave, you got it, if you want to make connections, if you want to show your work or spread the word about what you are doing/writing/blogging, you have to attend Fashion events. You will never know who you can meet there, from a hand-shake to a glance at your style, it could be the one. So be ready with your business card in one hand and get the other one ready to shake her pears.
Really relevant – but typically what you see in a report …
(But I do recommend this lovely little cafe named Fernandez & Wells)

I have been to London for the Fashion Week (-end, you can already see a post about it) and ludicrously you have a lot of people who are trying to get some Streetstyle pictures to be the next Scott Schurman or trying to be overdressed with the last trend on Tumblr like the fake-collar and the camo shirt and now the Homies jumper. Thanks lord there were some people who know how to be well-dressed and impressed others just with good cuts and the perfect match. As you know you can buy a lot of stuff from this event and sadly … too many people were just there to get discounts on a lot of branded stuff even if it didn’t match their style ( from the Alexander McQueen briefcase to Dolce & Gabbana ugly cuts (some shirts was horrible).

So for now it is time to book my ticket for the next one in June (I missed the one in February (and I will write another article about what I think of the current blogosphere AKA Shopping Window).

Cheers,

Thomas

As I like introducing you new places where to shop, I came through a “new” e-shop, The Cools, which is a “social marketplace where you can discover and buy from independent brands, boutiques and sellers”. In fact, it is not a common e-shop because the company is just a middle-man between the brand and the customer, they take around 12% of the sale, directly from the brand which avoid a lot of costs (avoiding poor payers) from the brand where the designer can then make more money of his business, the brand manage its own page so you can directly interact with them.
From the beginning The Cools was not that great, from June 2011, it was just a den for thousands brands, mostly different and far from making one identity. So from this January the company decided to create this identity, they washed away thousands brands to keep only a hundred relevant brands (to 300 from today) which are matching the new and re-defined identity of the shop. This new relief is aiming at new and original designer to give them the chance to be under the spotlights through a famous company.

Cheers,

Thomas

Just before my trip to China I got by mail the new advertisement for the last Miss Dior campaign and I had to say that the floral scent of this fragrance is just a wonderful pleasure to smell. It is one of my favourite fragrance for women. Why mixing a fragrance and the last collection by Dior? Have a look at that video and try to see the common point, this floral scent from the fragrance, you can feel the same from this collection, around Spring and Summer, colourful and light.

To match with the collection I found the settings for the FW a bit more harmonious than the one in Shanghai, running the catwalk surrounding by bushes and trees was more in the scent of this collection. I wanted to share with you, as always, my four-favourites outfits from this season –

Cheers,

Thomas

Well today, I will admit that since few months wanted to get another option in my wardrobe, more street wear. From NB to SSUR through Supreme and Nike (footscape, yes I like them). That is why I am going to present you another e-shop, Capology AKA an urban clothing shop. What is Capology then?
Capology is an e-shop, with one location in Newcastle, selling only streetwear brands labelled, SSUR, DOPE, KA, New Era just to quote the most famous ones.

They are also one of the biggest retailers of the brand King Apparel which is an English brand and the first uk brand to work on a collaboration with New Era on their famous 5950 fitted cap and Starter on their legendary premium black label snapback caps. The brand is King – We Reign Supreme”

Cheers,

Thomas

This image was haunting the Fashion sphere for at least 2 months, “Fashion” critics and “journalists” enjoyed that moment as they could write roughly everything they wanted about Slimane because he did not follow the line, he crossed it. We were used to see each new DA to follow the line of the house with a touch of creativity from their own hand, but no, Slimane put his whole soul in the new collections of Yves Saint Laurent, starting by re-naming the house to Saint Laurent Paris. The way of using the new name properly is still a bit vague so we will be careful about that.
The first collection he did, was inspired from an old collection by YSL in the last 40 years, some fashion critics (yes apparently it is a job but qualifications for that job still gloomy) just wrote how bad Slimane was, no-skill, no-creativity, no-alotofthing. I am not going to link to any post on the internet  but if you have a look on BoF (for example) you will find them, I don’t want the author to ask me to remove the truth about their mistakes. So maybe yes, he was inspired by this collection and what? Even if he is not my favourite designer, you can easily see that some collection from others are sometimes inspired from another collection or from the same inspirations (a bit tricky but I meant the same source). So where is the line? Are we restricted as a DA to do what people are expecting from us? Or can we (as a DA) just surprise them? Is it not the job of DA allowing us to judge if it is a good one or not?
In fact I just wanted to share with you four looks that I liked from his last collection, we find once again the rock’n roll and glamour detail, dear to Hedi (yes his degree got in Paris endowed him with this touch).
Cheers,

Thomas
